In the intricate field of logistics, where organization and precision are key, Khamyra Lane stands as the orchestrator of CRRC’s railcar production. Boasting six years of logistics expertise, Khamyra was looking for a new challenge and found her niche at CRRC.

With extensive experience in manufacturing and a deep understanding of the delicate world of logistics, Khamyra fit seamlessly into her role as warehouse supervisor at CRRC. She oversees the movement of parts, ensuring every component that goes into CRRC railcars is properly handled and placed.

“No two days are the same, which is exciting to me,” Khamyra said. “I have new challenges every day, which is something I really enjoy.”

Khamyra’s job is especially unique because instead of specializing in one specific area, she touches every single component of a project. Having an eye – or a hand – on every piece of the 7000 Series railcars is something Khamyra takes pride in.

“It’s exciting to see what actually goes into the railcars that I’ve been riding on since I was a kid,” she said. “It’s exciting to touch every part and learn about what each component does.”

Logistics aren’t a one-man job. Khamyra leads a team of 15 workers, and the team has their daily operations down to a science. Khamyra starts every day with a morning meeting to discuss issues from the previous shift and what needs to be accomplished that day. This helps keep the whole team on the same page and lets everyone know what needs to be prioritized.

“I work well under pressure. I like being in a role where I have to think quickly and come up with solutions,” Khamyra said.

Beyond logistics, Khamyra is fascinated by the intricate systems CRRC uses, since the process is different from some of the companies she’s previously worked with. Something she’s found particularly interesting is learning how the smallest physical parts tend to be the most important – and the most expensive.

“It’s really exciting to see that I had a hand in the railcars when they leave the facility and go out into the real world,” Khamyra said. “Seeing the overall complete project is what excites me about being a part of this process.”

Khamyra’s passion peaks when she sees the final product, making all the ups and downs of the logistics process worthwhile.

“I love seeing the end result. Every time we see something get done or make somebody happy; that thank you that we get means a lot,” Lane said. “It just shows we’re doing what needs to be done.”
