Built in America. By Americans. For Americans.

CRRC Sifang America is building the next generation of passenger railcars for the Chicago Transit Authority.

Built in America.

CRRC Sifang America is a subsidiary of CRRC Corporation Limited, the world leader in the design, engineering and manufacturing of advanced passenger rail vehicles and high-speed trains.

Chicago

Headquartered in Chicago, CRRC Sifang America recently completed a $100 million state-of-the-art production facility on city’s southeast side, returning railcar manufacturing to Chicago after a 50-year absence.

Built by Americans.

CRRC Sifang America is hiring from the community where they are located and are training U.S. workers to manufacture trains here in the U.S. CRRC currently employs security, maintenance, janitorial and landscaping services from the local area.

Highly skilled, Highly trained

CRRC is working with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) Local 134 and the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART) 73 to hire full time production workers from Chicago.

Built for Americans.

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) operates the nation’s second largest public transportation system. On an average weekday, 1.6 million rides are taken on CTA.

THE FUTURE OF TRANSIT

Once complete, the first order of 400 new, 7000-series rail cars will mark the first time in more than 50 years that CTA cars have been built in the city. The new cars will replace the oldest ones currently running, which date back to the 1980s.

Creating American Jobs

CRRC Sifang America is creating numerous new jobs in the U.S., all in support of railcar production.  CRRC has been and will continue to dedicate its recruitment efforts to hiring head-of-household union staff to work at CRRC’s new Chicago facility.

Commitment to U.S. Marketplace

CRRC has expended serious efforts to maximize the amount of U.S. made components that will be incorporated into the 7000 Series railcars.  Those efforts were confirmed in a pre-award audit verifying that CRRC is sourcing approximately 70% of the total cost of the railcar components from U.S. manufacturers, far exceeding the Buy America requirements.
